Toxicant‐Induced Loss of Tolerance (TILT, also referred to as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity or MCS) is a two-stage disorder process which can begin from either a one-time major toxic exposure (chemical spill, moldy house, etc..) or a long term series of everyday toxic level exposures (fragrances, medications, etc..). Affected people experience symptoms triggered by normal, everyday chemicals, foods, and drugs that never were an issue for them before. Exposure examples can include pesticides, cleaning agents, solvents, and many other substances. Air contaminants present indoors from materials used in construction or remodeling can also be a major exposure or trigger to someone with TILT.

COMMON SYMPTOMS:

  • Difficulties with attention, memory, and mood

  • Gastrointestinal problems

  • Allergy-like symptoms

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Fatigue and muscle pain

medical documentary to be released april 2021

As you have most likely gathered already, living with TILT can be incredibly isolating. Everywhere and everyone seem to be lathered in fragrance and toxic chemicals in today's society. Something as simple as a trip to the grocery store can be nearly impossible for some TILT patients. To add insult to injury, TILT sufferers have to deal with family and friends that are oftentimes in complete denial of this frequently invisible condition. Even supportive partners and kin can grow weary of dealing with such an overwhelming life change. Patients routinely turn to online forums and groups for the only support they can find. This is a huge reason Janee decided she had to make a film that would aim to bring about awareness and validation for these people who desperately need it. Currently, in production, the documentary brings together a few of the most respected experts and researchers the world has to offer on TILT & Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Making sure to highlight the perspective of the patients, people of all ages and backgrounds will be interviewed as well. Follow Janee's blog to receive updates on this project.

hope through the heartache

The good news is more and more of the medical community are learning exactly what TILT is, how to spot it, and are opening up to an array of treatments. Loads of research that wouldn't have been funded are being conducted, and professionals are collaborating like never before to bring relief to TILT patients and the people closest to them. This is so very important! Janee has lots of tips for people like her who are navigating the world with Toxicant Induced Loss of Tolerance. Juicing recipes, TILT friendly places to stay while traveling, and medical professionals who are experts in TILT, to name a few. Follow her blog for all these and more!

The most important thing to remember is to never lose hope. You are loved and the world needs you! Social media groups and online therapy/medical advice options are available and can help to give you some community and support.
